 Interface operation
Part 5 - 3
Interface operation
Look within right now and identify how you feel... Have you got it? Okay. So, how do you know how you feel? You look inside with a question of personal status, something gives you a quick report, and then you know how you feel. What is in there that gave you the report?
It may be possible to give a big complicated answer to that question, but it is easiest to just accept that it is your Interface. One job your Interface performs is to tell you how you feel, according to what you believe. It reports this continuously. You always have a feeling inside that is directly related to how you think you are doing at any given moment. This information comes from your Interface.
In Level Five exploration you learn that your Interface generates your "feeling of the moment" for you in mortal life. This aspect of the Interface must be at least partially understood before the ascension of Level Five. It will be examined in pieces first, then the pieces will be examined as a whole, and then the whole will be applied. This entire level of exploration is involved in exploring your Interface and learning some empowering things about it.
Take another look at your current feeling. Notice that it has an inherent status. In other words, the feeling you have, your mood, is related to the stance you take at that moment in your life. If you feel good you are sort of "open". If you feel curious you are sort of "alert". If you feel powerful you are sort of "extended". Each feeling is different. Each feeling has a different status. Each "mood" puts you in a different "mode".
All of this is your Interface doing its job faithfully. You use your Interface to "surf the moment" in your mortal experience. Here you come to an interesting factor to consider: You and your Interface are not the same thing. You are you, and your Interface is your Interface. You are an Eternal Being involved in a physical experience. The Interface focuses your attention in time. It is a device. It is kind of like the body of your immmortal presence. This may be too astounding to believe, so don't. Just imagine it for the sake of Empowerment. You are Eternal, and of Divine origin. You are not a physical being. Therefore, it would be impossible for you to have a mortal experience if you did not use some way to express yourself and experience living in the limited realm of mortal existence. Enter the Interface.
At this point in time it is easy for you to confuse "Self" and "Interface". Ironically, your first step in getting a handle on the Interface is by getting detached from it. Taking a step back from it gives you the opportunity to identify it as something distinct and apart from you.
This step is very simple. In fact, you have already accomplished it in Level One. Remember your exercise of displacing your current feeling with the perception of joy? If you accomplish this regularly you may have noticed that the mood of joy activates a very energetic mode. If so, good noticing. You may also have noticed that it actually is possible to change your mood by an act of decision. Here are two very important aspects of your Interface. First, its report is your feeling of the status at any given moment in life. Second, you can change the report of your Interface.
This is an amazing thing to play with. Notice the three elements involved.
There is you, the Eternal expression of Free Will, who has come to live in the space-time universe.
There is your Interface to the physical universe and mortal life.
There is your resulting "inner feeling" about your mortal experience.
So...
By the use of your will you alter your beliefs.
By altering your beliefs you alter how your Interface runs.
By altering Interface operation you alter your "mode" as you face life and living.
Ideally, you adjust your perception of life to achieve happiness. The problem is, for all of its wonders, your Interface operates on very simple principals. It will keep doing what you set it to do... even if you no longer want the feeling it produces. It will also run what you let others set it to. It can get bogged down and sluggish. Your life does too, at this point.
When you first begin operating your Interface it will be challenging. The controls have to be uncovered, cleaned up and worn in. As you use the Interface it becomes more responsive. Actually, the more control you have with your Interface, the more control you have over your mortal life experience. Various aspects of this will be explored in future levels, but for now all there is to do is get things set up and running.
Your Interface is an interesting device. It furnishes a way to bridge a gap and gain control in an otherwise inaccessible realm. For a means of getting the idea of it, you can consider that in many ways your Interface has the same relationship between your Eternal Presence and mortal life as a computer has to a user and the Internet. It is involved in the same kind of cycle:
You use a computer to experience the Internet.
The Internet uses your computer to talk to you.
You control Internet web experience in this way.
An electronic interface is the only possible way to have an Internet experience. You cannot actually be there yourself. You can only place your attention there. You do that via the Computer.
The same type of thing is also true for the Interface within. You use the Interface to manage your expression in the physical reality. The physical reality uses your Interface to communicate with you and with the physical universe. You control your physical experience in this way.
Unlike a computer, however, your Interface can never be shut off. It runs all of the time. It can change, but it is always on. If you are not consciously running it, it runs along on whatever settings it had last.
Since the Interface is very versatile, very literal, and very powerful, it can actually seem to work against you at times. It probably is doing that to one degree or another right now. Have you ever noticed a feeling that seems inappropriate for the moment? ...Like something beautiful making you feel sad, or a wide space making you feel trapped, or unexplained anger or grief or anxiety? Sometimes the Interface gets settings that you do not necessarily want, and sometimes it keeps running settings that you are now finished with. Use your Journal to list feelings you have that are not what you want. Just keep the list for now. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
