Since UCS was founded in 1996, this network has maintained an open policy. We are a public network, and membership here is public. This is clearly stated on the new membership page, and is repeated on the privacy page.
This language has been in place for many years:
When a search engine reviews the UCS membership, which happens regularly, their process may involve "caching" or saving that information to their own system. That means that simply deleting or changing that information here on UCS may have no effect on the information stored by the search engine company. Here on origin.org, we can control what information is displayed. We have no control on what information might be displayed by (for example) google.com."Please note: UCS is an open and public internet forum, and membership here may cause a link to your UCS profile or messages to be found by search engines."
If you wish to remove your information from UCS and are finding your UCS profile linked by a search engine, the first step is to contact us, and we will remove your account. If your information still appears in search results, and your information no longer exists on UCS or origin.org, you will have to contact the search engine company directly. After deleting your information here, there is nothing more we can do.
If you find your listing by some search engine to be inconvenient, we advise you to contact the management of the site displaying your information.
Thanks for understanding.
